How Mopio Brooklyn Dressers Transformed Our Bedroom on a Budget

Hi friends,

If you didn’t already know, I’ve got a champagne taste on a beer budget. I’m a bit boujee, but I’m not paying thousands for furniture. I want aesthetics, function, and sturdiness—without breaking the bank—because, full disclosure, daycare for three kids costs a small fortune these days. And honestly, sometimes I drive myself crazy just searching the internet for the right find.

I’ve been wanting to upgrade our nightstands. Don’t get me wrong—they’re beautiful, but I’ve had them for probably 12 years (DIY project!) and they just aren’t meeting our needs anymore. I need more storage and furniture that’s functional and stylish in our average-sized home. Plus, I desperately needed somewhere to store all the little treasures my kids make for me—hand-drawn artwork, tiny trinkets, and all the sentimental clutter that I just don’t know where to put. It needed to be neat, accessible, and still look modern.

Where we started - cue the artwork, kids items, etc that accumulate on our bedside nightstands. My drawers are packed with albums, books, etc and I need more storage!

Enter the Brooklyn 3 Drawer Dressers from Mopio. They fit my vision perfectly. Mopio has a ton of affordable furniture options that look and feel high-end—think Arhaus or Restoration Hardware—but without the champagne price tag. Assembly? Way easier than other budget furniture I’ve tackled. No missing pieces or hardware. No mismatched holes. The package was so heavy I had to assemble it in the garage first—and that’s how you know it’s quality!

I partnered with Mopio to share these Brooklyn dressers with you — but as always, all thoughts, styling tips, and opinions are 100% my own!

Here’s what I love about them:

  • Black oak finish – so realistic. I love how the rich, dark tone contrasts beautifully with our oak-toned LVP floors. It gives the room depth without feeling heavy.

  • Fluted drawers & brass hardware – modern, stylish, and just the right texture. The brass pulls add a little bit of warmth and luxe detail without being over the top.

  • Storage – honestly, the drawers hold so much! Books, laptops, photo albums, extra sheets, blankets, clothes… and now, my kids’ little creations finally have a home. No more piles taking over the closet or side tables.

Styling them was effortless. I paired the dressers with green houseplants—my Albo Monstera has some competition now. The greenery brings life to the space and adds a pop of color against the black oak finish. The dressers also complement the texture of my European linen bedding, giving the bedroom a cozy, layered look. I love how everything feels cohesive yet curated—modern, functional, and approachable.

Since getting the dressers in place, I also took the opportunity to swap out our day-to-day decor for some holiday touches. I added a festive vase with seasonal florals, candles, and even a little Christmas tree figurine. (Yes, I know it’s technically on my husband’s side, but he didn’t pick out his own holiday decor, so I did—LOL) It’s a small touch, but it really brings the room together and makes it feel warm and festive for this time of year.

Another thing I appreciate is that Mopio furniture is truly an investment that doesn’t feel cheap. The quality feels solid, the pieces are trendy but timeless, and they make my life easier. For someone like me, who loves DIY but doesn’t always have time for larger furniture projects, having a brand I can rely on is huge. Mopio will definitely be my go-to for any furniture I can’t DIY myself.

If you love these dressers, you’ll be happy to know that Mopio has other dresser options and headboards in the same collection, so it’s easy to create a cohesive bedroom set. Plus, if black oak isn’t your vibe, the dressers and headboards also come in a golden oak finish—perfect for lighter, airy spaces.

Now that our nightstands are upgraded, I’m already dreaming about the bed frame and headboard situation, maybe some curtains? I’m picturing something that complements the black oak, keeps the modern-meets-cozy vibe, and still allows me to showcase plants, linens, and accessories the way I love. What do you think—should I take the plunge?

Thanks for being here,

-Sydnie
